Character Counter With Spaces for Social Posts and Meta Descriptions

A character limit can turn a good message into a rejected one. Paste your copy into the Character Counter to check both totals before you publish.

Use the Character Counter

Why spaces change the result

A phrase can look short but use more characters than expected once spaces, punctuation, URLs, and emoji are included. Checking with and without spaces makes it easier to understand which limit a platform is applying.

For search snippets and ad copy, every character competes for attention. A compact verb and a specific benefit usually create more room than a generic opening.

Edit for clarity, not just length

Cut filler words before removing meaning. Replace “in order to” with “to,” name the action early, and keep one clear call to action. Read the shortened version aloud: if it sounds abrupt, restore the useful detail rather than adding a vague adjective.

Keep a reusable version

Save a longer source version of important copy, then make channel-specific versions from it. A quick character check at the final step prevents accidental over-limit posts.
