Compare Two Text Files Online and Find Different Lines
When two versions look almost identical, do not rely on your eyes alone. Paste them into the Text Diff Checker to confirm a match or reveal the changed lines.
Use the Text Diff CheckerWhy visual comparison misses changes
Small edits are easy to overlook: a changed number, an extra space, a missing line, or an outdated date can all matter. Comparing the source text directly is faster and more reliable than switching between windows.
A line-by-line result is especially useful for short policies, descriptions, configuration values, product copy, and versioned notes.
Use a clean comparison workflow
Label which version is the source of truth before you start. Paste the first version into the top field and the proposed version into the second field, then review every reported line difference.
If formatting is not meaningful, clean whitespace before comparison. If every character matters, compare the unedited text so the result reflects the exact content you plan to use.
Finish with a decision
A diff result tells you where text differs; it does not decide which wording is correct. Approve, reject, or merge each change deliberately, then save the final version in one known location.
